French Health Insurance

Students living in mainland France are covered by the French Health Insurance (Caisse primaire d'assurance maladie CPAM) in their place of residence, which reimburses part of their healthcare costs.

Supplementary private health insurance

To supplement reimbursements from the French Health Insurance (CPAM), registering with a supplementary private health insurance is highly recommended.

If your parents live in France and have supplementary private health insurance, you may be eligible to benefit from their insurance. Find out more on the French Health Insurance (Assurance Maladie) website (only available in French).

If that is not the case, you can choose an insurance specialised in student healthcare.

Complementary State Health Insurance

You may be entitled to Complementary State Health Insurance (Complémentaire santé solidaire – C2S) which, depending on your resources, is either completely free of charge or requires a contribution, based on the number of people in your family whom you wish to be covered.

To find out if you are eligible, use the simulator on the Assurance Maladie website
