Overview
The Student Health Office (Service de santé étudiante – SSE) is made up of a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, psychologists and social workers, serving all students of the university and its partner institutions. Its main objectives are to:
- Develop initiatives to promote student health and prevent illness
- Support access to primary care services for students
- Keep track of public health developments
The Student Health Office is based at the Esplanade campus but also offers consultations at several other university campuses.
Services
The Student Health Office offers a wide range of services to support students’ health and wellbeing, including:
- Health check-ups for all students during higher education, covering medical, psychological and social aspects
- General medical consultations for primary care needs
- Student sexual health services, including gynaecology consultations, STI testing, contraception, pregnancy testing and HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)
- Support for students with disabilities, in partnership with the Disability Support Department (Mission handicap)
- Health screenings and follow-ups for international students
- Medical check-ups for students exposed to specific risks during their studies
- Nutrition consultations
- Support to quit smoking
- Vaccinations, including prescription and administration
- Nurse consultations and care, including hearing tests, wound care and injections
- Mental health support and early detection of psychological issues, either directly or via referral to psychiatrists and psychologists at the University Medical-Psychological Reception Centre (Centre d’accueil médico-psychologique universitaire de Strasbourg – CAMUS)
- Stress management and wellbeing programmes, including cardiac coherence training and hypnotherapy
- Health education and prevention initiatives, covering mental health, addictions, sexual health, nutrition and more
