Mandatory fees for 2026–2027
Tuition fees in France are set by the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the Ministry of Economy and Finance. They include a €23 administration fee, which is non-refundable if you cancel your enrolment, in line with Article 18 of the Decree of 19 February 2019.

Exemptions and special cases
Students receiving means-tested grants
Students who receive means-tested grants do not have to pay national tuition fees. They only need to pay the fees associated with University Diplomas (Diplômes d’université – DU).
Tuition fees for work-study students
Work-study students (on an apprenticeship or professionalisation contract) do not have to pay tuition fees for their programme. However:
- Students on an apprenticeship contract still need to pay the student life and campus contribution (Contribution de vie étudiante et de campus – CVEC)
- Students on a professionalisation contract (like all continuing education students) do not need to pay the student and campus life contribution
Join a programme as an auditor
- Fee: €80
You can sit in on courses of your choice without being formally enrolled in the degree programme by submitting a written declaration to the academic office (scolarité). But keep the following in mind:
- You cannot participate in seminars or practical sessions
- You cannot sit exams
- You do not receive any of the benefits of having student status
You can request a campus pass (student card) for €10, following the steps on the Pass Campus website.

Students from the European Union and other eligible countries and territories
Tuition fees for students from the European Union and other eligible countries and territories are the same as those for French students, in accordance with the applicable regulations.
This category refers to students who are nationals of a Member State of the European Union, a State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco or the Canadian province of Quebec.
Students from outside the European Union and other eligible countries and territories
This category refers to students who are not nationals of a Member State of the European Union, a State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, Switzerland, Andorra, Monaco or the Canadian province of Quebec.
Following the publication of Decree No. 2026-385 of 19 May 2026 concerning exemptions from tuition fees for international students enrolled in programmes at public higher education institutions under the authority of the Ministry responsible for higher education, the information below will be updated gradually.
