Description du contenu de l'enseignement
This course will take you to the field to study and reconstruct the geological history of the site and link it to the regional geological context. It implies a detailed investigation on the field. You will be asked to:
- identify rocks
- define the geological map
- identify and draw the large geological structures
- draw a geological cross-section and sedimentary section logs
- take measurements to provide quantitative data (Jacob’s foot, compass-clinometer, etc.).
Compétences à acquérir
In this course, you will be able to:
- understand the organization of geological formations in 3 dimensions and make corresponding geological cross-sections.
- link what you see on the field to the global geological context.
- give the time step of each event in a relative way.
Pré-requis recommandés
Knowledge of sedimentology principles, of structural geology and geodynamics, of the geological history of Azerbaijan.
