Description du contenu de l'enseignement

An overview concerning molecular compounds with magnetic and electronic properties.
Provide knowledge on the properties of transition metal complexes following their interaction with light.
Understand the synthesis of these compounds together with their applications.
Understanding the structure-properties relationships.
  • General introduction to molecular functional materials
  • Magnetic properties : magnetic interactions in isolated polymetallic complexes, Spin crossover systems, molecular networks of metallic magnets (1D, 2D, 3D), Organic magnets, magneto-chemistry of organic radical based compounds and characterization techniques.
  • Conducting properties: mechanisms of conduction in molecular systems, molecular conductors and superconductors, charge transfer salts and low dimensionality.
  • Multifunctional compounds : optical, conducting and magnetic properties.
  • Luminescent architectures: from the design to the properties. Application to light-emitting diodes, transistors, effects of fields and sensors.
  • Photoinduced electron transfer properties of transition metal complexes: from the theory of electron transfer to the design of complexes able to perform efficient charge separation.
  • Transition metal complexes in devices able to convert light energy into chemical energy, electricity and large amplitude motion in artificial molecular machines.
