Description du contenu de l'enseignement

This course provides valuable knowledge for students moving into management and/or leadership roles and positions after their university studies. In this course, we will dig deep into essential leadership concepts and view them from various angles, such as intra-individual, dyadic, group, and organizational perspectives. The course builds on multiple recurring session elements, e.g., student presentations as a peer learning experience, insights from seminal leadership articles of the Harvard Business Review, videos that convey practitioner's insights on selected leadership topics, and active discussion rounds, to name but a few. Moreover, throughout the course, participants will get a better understanding of current streams of leadership by drawing on insights from top-notch peer-reviewed journal articles. In general, the course explores what great managers do and how they possibly become leaders. It emphasizes the benefits for leaders of focusing their own attention on themselves, on others, and on their socio-cultural/economic environment. The leadership lessons learned from great leaders (e.g., the way they get employees to fulfill organizational objectives) are studied and reflected upon against the backdrop of organizations' and leaders' responsibility for sustainable development.
