Conférence - "Supramolecular materials, reminiscent of living tissue"

Yoshinori Takashima (Osaka University, professeur invité à l’Université de Strasbourg), anime une conférence intitulée "Supramolecular materials, reminiscent of living tissue", mardi 20 mars 2018, à la Maison universitaire France-Japon. Molecular recognition of small molecules and macromolecules is important in many functions in biological systems. Herein, we focus on muscle motion, self-healing properties, and cell adhesion via dynamic movement and selectivity through molecular recognition properties. We have created stimuli-responsive supramolecular materials that act through molecular recognition.
Our research group has employed cyclodextrins (CDs) for this purpose. CDs are a family of macrocyclic oligosaccharides. To realize functional supramolecular materials controlled by host-guest interactions, we have attempted to realize sol-gel switching, self-healing, adhesion control, and contraction-expansion properties through the formation of inclusion complexes with CDs. Our research aims at observing molecular recognition events on a macroscopic scale.  Especially, I would like to introduce self-healing materials and photo-stimuli materials.
